BetterRun ("the App") is an interval running training app for iOS. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use the App.

The short version: Your data stays on your device. We don't collect, transmit, or sell any of your personal information.

Information Collection

Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The App stores the following information exclusively on your device using Apple's secure SwiftData framework:

  • Profile Information: Your name, training preferences, and fitness goals
  • Workout Data: Run history, GPS routes, pace samples, interval completions
  • Health Data: Heart rate samples and calorie data (accessed via HealthKit with your permission)
  • Statistics: Personal records, achievements, streaks, and progress tracking
  • Preferences: Audio settings, notification schedules, target pace goals

Data NOT Collected

We do not collect, transmit, or have access to:

  • Your personal information
  • Your location data
  • Your health data
  • Your workout history
  • Analytics or usage data
  • Device identifiers
  • Any information whatsoever

The App has no network connectivity. All data processing occurs locally on your device.

Third-Party Services

The App does not use any third-party services, including:

  • Analytics platforms
  • Advertising networks
  • Crash reporting services
  • Cloud storage providers
  • Social media integrations

Permissions

The App requests the following permissions to function:

Location Services

  • Purpose: Track your running route and calculate pace/distance
  • Usage: Location data is recorded only during active workouts
  • Storage: Route data is stored locally on your device only

HealthKit

  • Purpose: Record heart rate and calorie data during workouts
  • Usage: Health data is accessed only during active workouts
  • Storage: Health data syncs with Apple Health and is stored locally

Notifications

  • Purpose: Send scheduled run reminders (optional)
  • Usage: Notifications are generated entirely on-device

Data Security

Your data is protected by:

  • Apple's device encryption
  • iOS sandboxing (data is inaccessible to other apps)
  • SwiftData's secure local storage
  • No network transmission (data never leaves your device)

Data Retention

Your data remains on your device until you:

  • Delete individual runs or records within the App
  • Delete the App (removes all App data)
  • Reset your device

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The App does not collect any information from anyone.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Your Rights

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control over your information. You can:

  • View all your data within the App
  • Delete any runs or records
  • Delete all data by uninstalling the App
